Our buildings are made from naturally durable timber species, negating the need for toxic chemicals or pressure treatments and their inherent dangers. Therefore, our buildings are entirely toxin-free with no risk of contamination.
We deliberately over-engineer our buildings, making them heavy-duty and using big, solid timbers throughout.
Buildings can be made to any specification or configuration of walls, doors, and windows. You can choose to have verandahs, steps, and seating. You can even select the type of glass in your windows. For example, the windows in our Care Cabins are designed to allow a broader spectrum of light into the room, creating a more natural and healthier ambience.
Our buildings are solid, naturally durable and designed to traditional, age-old specifications. We use western red cedar (Thuja plicata), larch (Larix decidua), oak (Quercus petraea/robur) and other naturally durable species.
Our timber is sourced from wildlife-focused thinning projects. Our forestry experts target overcrowded and overstocked woodlands, selectively thinning tree plantations where nature has been displaced. This process opens the woodland canopy, allowing sunlight to reach the forest floor.
Within a few weeks, a surge of growth occurs, resulting in a diverse collection of plants and wildflowers. Once nature regains control, the woodland transitions from a single-crop system to a diverse, natural habitat.
The trees we remove are then transported to our sawmill, where they are skillfully transformed into various resources and stunning buildings that enhance your outdoor teaching initiatives. With the expertise of our skilled crafts team, we can transform your outdoor spaces into beautiful, natural learning environments.
