Gardens and Activities
GROUND ENHANCEMENT
A garden similar to the one seen left serves as an exceptional resource that crosses a variety of subjects, enriching the learning experience for students. It acts as a vibrant ecosystem, providing diverse habitats for various minibeasts, such as butterflies, ladybugs, and earthworms, which play crucial roles in the garden's health. Additionally, this space allows children to engage in hands-on gardening, where they can learn to grow their own food plants, such as tomatoes, carrots, and herbs. Through these activities, children cultivate an understanding of basic plant biology and ecology and develop practical skills, with a responsibility for and an appreciation of nature and healthy eating. Basic tally sheets can log the number of plants, insects and other minibeasts. Wildflowers can also be grown to attract bees, butterflies and other creatures, particularly those that feed on plant pests.
Should you wish to create growing projects on a larger scale, we have developed several school farms, where polytunnels, growing beds and orchards yield enough produce to allow the school to sell to parents, thus off-setting the cost of production.
Here is a small selection of our gardens.
If you can imagine it, we can bring it to life.
